Lambeth Conference 2022

Lambeth Conference, after fourteen years this time, was amazing despite the heat, and other small issues. Getting to know bishops from 165 countries, and their spouses, their ministries and the life of the people of these dioceses across the world opened my eyes to hear first hand, what ministry looks like in other parts of the world, and how blessed we are and in the midst of all of our struggles and difficulties why have every reason to be grateful to God for.

In my Bible Study group there were eight bishops including me. One woman bishop, one of the suffragan bishops of the Arctic, two bishops from Europe, the church England and Ireland; one bishop from Kenya, and two bishops from South Sudan and myself. Each person shared their perspective on various issues, but in the end, we connected with each others life and situation in ministry. Even though we varied in our understanding and perspective on theological matters, we could sit around the table, share our thoughts giving each person space and time to be themselves.

The issues we talked about were surrounding human sexuality, human dignity, climate crisis, food shortage, and such topics that affect the people of our communities everyday. It was not all about theological conversations that did not affect human condition. These talks even when we did not understand exactly the situation or perspective of the other, we learned a lot by simply listening.

and our role in the midst of these. We heard from people from around the world, through video recordings what it means to be an Anglican in a world that is fragmented by division, political uprising, war, famine, disputes, displacements, fear, anger, unforgiveness and so on.
