The Commission on Ministry

 COM Meeting

According to the Diocesan Canons, the duties of the Commission on Ministry are:

(a) Guidance in Selection of Minister, Either Lay or Ordained. It shall be the duty of the Commission to assist the Bishop in matters pertaining to the enlistment and selection of persons for ministry and in the guidance and pastoral care of all postulants and candidates
for Holy Orders.

(b) Guidance of Deacons, Church Workers. The Commission shall assist the Bishop in the guidance and pastoral care of deacons and professional church workers.

(c) Continuing Education. The Commission shall assist the Bishop in matters pertaining to the continuing education for ministry of all laity and clergy.

(d) Interviews and Examinations. For persons preparing for ordination, the Commission shall comply with Title III, Canons 6 and 8 of the Episcopal Church in the United States.

(e) Subcommittees. The Commission may adopt rules for its work, subject to the approvalof the Bishop, provided the same are not inconsistent with the Canons of General Convention or of the Diocese. These rules may include the appointment of committees of the Commission to assist it in its work. A committee may appoint subcommittees to assist its work.
