Governance in the Diocese of Idaho
The word Episcopal means of or relating to a bishop, which is how the Church is governed. The Episcopal Church in the United States is comprised of numerous diocese. Some diocese are further divided into deaneries or regions.
The Diocese of Idaho is governed together by Diocesan Council, a Standing Committee, and the Bishop. Together with Diocesan Convention these bodies make decisions for and on behalf of the diocese.
The Episcopal Diocese of Idaho is:
- a member of the Episcopal Church.

- divided into four deaneries.
- governed by Diocesan Canons.
The Episcopal Church is:
- a member of the Worldwide Anglican Communion.

- governed by the triennial meeting of General Convention of the Episcopal Church in the United States.
- governed by national Constitutions and Canons.
